One reason for our change in Agent of Record was the level of customer service that we were receiving from our, then current broker. We heard from them once a year; at renewal time, and only discussed the insurance plans at hand. Group Services has been the total opposite. We have a much closer working relationship with Group Services in that we talk throughout the year whether it is working out insurance problems or questions for staff, keeping up to date with changes in legislation, or just checking in to see how things are going and if we are satisfied with the service that we are getting. Any member of Group Services’ team is always ready, willing and able to assist either Bethany administration or Bethany employees with questions relating to health, dental, or flexible spending account plans. It is a great load off of our Human Resources department to have a “go-to” connection that knows the insurance industry inside and out. For that, we at Bethany are grateful.
I want to reiterate what positive results we have had since joining Group Services for the administration of the self-funding portion of our health insurance plan. We began this program October 1, 2003, and as a result have saved $286,136. We can only assume that the Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield rates will continue to change, and if we factor in a conservative 10% increase in premium cost per year, the savings increases to $466,328.
